Rattling sash windows
If your sash windows are not secure they will rattle as a result of vibration of windy weather. Rattling sash windows can be a great annoyance, particularly with the added annoyance of drafts. Rattling windows are also prone to sticking and not moving without friction.
Over time the moving parts in your sash window will wear down and need replacing. The lower sash is particularly prone to this as it tends to be more frequently used.
The common cause of rattling sash windows that we have come across at Advance Glazing is worn seals or indeed no draft proofing installed. Rectifying this is a straight-forward process. Advance Glazing’s sash window technicians will remove your top and bottom sashes, and install or replace the parting and staff beads of each sash with new draft sealed beads.
The process takes about three hours per window and can be done onsite.
Advance Glazing Window Care Tip:
When painting sashes, don’t get paint on draft seals. Paint shrinks the seal brushes, making them ineffective. This problem is often caused by closing a sash before the paint has dried.
